Ah, the last length of the race and Chris entered Ben even though the colt was going to be rested. The first week of October was not going to harm the colt to race one last time they would just skip out on the first week of November. Not much was happening with Ben in his paddock since he was dashing after cars and the other horses outside the newly built paddock he was in. Chris managed to yet again bring him to his previous home for the Risorgimeto Derby. As for this race he would be up against more challengeable opponents.
Placing the halter on Ben Chris had him calm for the time being. Mason, one of Bowen Acres stable horse trainers managed to tag along but, had to keep his distance because of the high temperament Ben had towards humans he did not like. "You didn't have to come Mason I don't want to have to save your life if Ben decides to have his moods." Chris said feeding his horse friend some oats while he brushed the colt before placing the saddle on him. Chris made sure it was not too tight around his stomach and smirked towards Mason. "I'll keep my distance no worries." Mason said then biting into an apple he brought along with him.
Chris then rubbed Ben's nose and grabbed the lead rope and latched it onto his halter pulling him out of the stables and onto the pathway. While walking out there was people just urging to look at the horse and while the press flashed their camera's towards Ben the colt began to snort and when it did get crowded Ben reared up to frighten the people. "Would everyone please excuse us! I'm sure he's lovely to look at but, he's not very people friendly." He said managing to calm him down again. When they reached the opening of the track Chris hopped up onto Ben's back who acknowledged his human companion and shake his head as a gesture.
The anxious colt was moving the bit in a more comfortable position in his mouth while he pulled himself to walk onto the track gladly prancing about as a happy pony. At first it appeared GS Super Charged was putting up a fight but this was his way of glory. Feeling the track underneath his hooves the colt was once again happy. Chris of course let him have his fun at first but, then he took control of the reins and petted his dear friend. "Now come on Ben." Chris said then with a small touch urged the bay colt to a trot. This race ahead was very difficult since Ben would be facing Grade two's and others higher then him.
As a dual surfaced distance runner Chris was hoping Ben would find his strength to push through. He came in third at the Novizio Derby against other great horses it was a miracle he got to that position as a two year old. Ben went to a trot until he decided to change his gears on his own and came to a full gallop not even bothered by the weight on his back he used some of his energy to blast off into the back stretch with no problems. Ben would make the most of this race and as much as their were older horses and more experienced racers going up against Ben he will do his best to run them down.
Finding his own stride Ben then took off near the end of the back stretch gaining more speed as he came to the turn that would lead him home to the wire where he would fight for. Ben wanted nothing more then to prove himself worthy to his competitors. As his bloodline was well worth it Ben would challenge anyone of his caliber or more. If Admiral's Revenge came to practice with GS Super Charge even Ben would put up a good fight to his very own sire. As he came to the home stretch Chris held on for dear life as Ben came to his last and final gear giving it all he got as he passed the wire with his tail raised and his ears perked up as if it was nothing.
Chris had the colt come to a steady but, slow walk turning him around having him breath out his speed and stamina off. "Good job Ben." Chris said walking Ben to the exit off the track where Mason gave Chris a look. "Don't get too cocky Chris that horse of yours is a machine but, he's going up against Fiery touch and Fire Dancer all I have to say is goodluck." He said and then followed Chris and GS Super Charged back to the stables praying to god that he would at least tire out the other two he was racing against.
