RIDDEN BY Chris Stevens WORKOUT
FOR NOVIZIO DERBY
Intrepid Racing Inc. the home of Ben's Sire and grandparents along with some of his siblings. It was a bit difficult for Chris to get the saddle on the colt because he remembered this place quite well. The big derby was coming up and it was thought that GS Super Charged would race in the Novisio Derby before taking a break off the tracks. The colt urged to race and never stood still at a period of time. Grabbing the reins that were now on Ben's halter Chris petted his nose gently. "You know this place don't you? You'll be great Ben let's show this track what you have." Chris said looking the colt in the eyes before hopping up on his back.[/size]
It had appeared Ben would be up against so far GM Halloweentown and Mizadori. Approaching the practice track Chris stopped Ben just outside the track so they could both get a good look at it. Ben dug his hoof into the grass he was standing on and without warning to his rider the colt went forward to a hasty walk onto the dirt track. He was the son of two great horses one a MHS Triple Crown Winner being Admiral's Revenge and dam Sonata, both of which were temperamental horses Ben seemed to pick up after his Sire.
Chris became his handler, trainer, and Jockey although, Angela and Mason were assigned that position Ben only allowed Chris Stevens in his stall and/or around him. Humans to Ben were just too touchy and Chris was accepted the trust to Ben to be able to ride him. Ben moved his head up and down to pull on the reins sliding the bit in his mouth over his tongue. He wanted to go not stand around like some show pony.
"Easy there Ben let's stretch out those muscles first buddy." Chris said then started to trot the colt to get worked up into a full run. Ben had his ears forward as he did was he was told for the moment moving his legs to move faster to a trot as he nickered towards the movement. Chris could only think entering Ben into the Novizio Derby seemed like a great idea. The colt was a grade 5 dual surfaced colt with a perfect racing attitude. The colt wanted more no matter the race he proved to show his lines pretty well.
The colt was a brilliant height and well build. Ben wanted to run do his job like any other horse but, Chris would not let him during this time for he wanted to wait. The colt seemed to start from the back of the pack which drove Chris nuts but, it was a fair advantage when Ben finally took off at the end to show his dominance. Chris wanted Ben to succeed at becoming a champion and if not that then a grade 1 stallion.
After trotting for a long distance Chris grabbed the reins and the bottom of Ben's mane and urged Ben to Gallop along the back stretch and that was what Ben did but, before hand he shook his head whinnying before changing gears to a gallop finally doing what he wanted Ben took off to a gallop as his rider wanted and he could feel the wind hit his face so Chris ducked down behind the colt's neck and prayed Ben followed the track.
Chris could hear Ben's breathing and it was normal and rough the colt from afar was moving great if someone else had came with Chris. The Admiral's Revenge son was proving himself a great runner. After he changed gears again the colt passed the wire feeling energetic the colt came to a slow stop and after he reared up as if he was joyful. Chris managed to hold onto the colt and afterwards he got off Ben's back and pulled the reins over the colt's head so Chris could walk him on foot.
"Come on now Ben this is only a workout the race is coming I promise." He said petting the neck of the horse. He walked GS Super Charged off the track to head back home. Ben would give a show to the home of his Sire and most of his family come race day. It seemed his half sibling, Heartless Revenge entered last year and placed and Chris was hoping the same result or first for the colt. Ben had the lines, the speed, the stamina just put a track in front of the colt and watch the colt shine to victory. That was the intentions for race day and Chris would be proud to ride on the colt's back at this derby.
The colt was up against three strong competitors two three year old's and one two year old. Ben was the only Grade 5 but, he was only a two year old. His career was just starting out but, if he wasn't first he did end up placing in many of his races so far. Mizadori was pretty fast but, Nightshade was right now Ben's lookout. She was right at home here and knew the track. This workout was a praying matter that GS Super Charged would at least fight and show what he was made of out on the track.
