Personality
Predator is cruel. We have many high strung horses within our stock, but we don't even classify Pred as "high strung". He's just down right mean. We had concerns that he'd never mellow out enough for him to be suitable on the track, but he shows favorable tendencies to our female jockey, Adele Rodgers. Though never friendly, he does seem to tolerate her presence and touch enough for her to handle and train. He is very much a loner and prefers his own space, which is why when on the track he'll break through the gate so fast, just to put distance between him and the others, while at the same time kicking debris into his competitors faces in a haughty punishment for infringing his territory. His territory, though we had doubts at the beginning is most definitely the track. When running he takes his Predator like nature and preys on the others like they're his morning feed. He has been known to bite his training partners, but quickly we had to teach him to simply outrun his prey, not kill it. He breaks fast and hard and will lead the pack, egging on any close competitor and stalk them with fierce ferocity only to whip by in a closing finish to crush any of their hope. Most horses are in it to please owners and riders or for simply the heart of racing, but He's simply in it to let out his anger and smite the hope of those who dare to try and out-distance him. He's could care less about placing, but the fact that a horse betters him on occasion, he's out for blood at the finish. So we are sure to quickly escort him out and let him blow off his steam in a more safe manner off track. Exercise is a must for this big boy, or he'll have enough energy to tear the barn apart piece by piece. Some wonder why put up with Predator at all, so do we sometimes, but then in those moments on the track, or with Adele, you see that he's just a horse and all horses deserve their moments, regardless of how difficult they may be.
